Wormholes | What is Wormhole?, Complete details. | Faster than Light.

The space spread around us has always been the subject of our eagerness. In ancient times, when people stared look at the sky at night, they would see twinkling stars, which they consider to be the house of God. This went on for centuries. Then science emerged. And we learned that these celestial bodies that appear like particles of sand in the sky are either stars or planets. Because we knew that Earth is also an planet, an important question arose in our mind whether life exists on any planet other than Earth. Our curiosity to know the answer to this question led to space telescopes like Hubbel which has found many planets on which life can be possible.
But these planets are so far away from us that we cannot even imagine going there with today's technology. In order to reach these planets easily, we need at least light speed vehicle. But according to Einstein's Theory of Relativity, no object that has a mass can run at the speed of light. Because to do this it would need infinite energy. Simply put, it is impossible to create a vehicle that can move faster than the speed of light. So does it mean that we will never reach those planets. If this is the case then why are scientists unnecessarily spending their precious time in finding a planet where we will never be able to go. The reason for this is some mathematical equations that give rise to at least two such possibilities that we can reach in remote areas of the universe even before light without breaking the rules of Theory of Relativity. These two possibilities are in the form of Wormholes and Warp Drive. In today's episode, we will learn about Wormhole.
What is a warp drive and how does it work, we see it in another episode. let's start today's episode.

Until the early years of the 19th century, no one challenged Newton's theory of gravity. According to Newton's theory, all objects in this universe, we and you also pull each other towards with a force called gravity. The larger the object, the greater its gravitational force. This is why we live on the surface of this earth and not floating in the sky. But there was a huge deficiency in Newton's theory of gravity, which no one else noticed. Newton has said that every object in the universe draws each other towards thereself. But he did not say why or how they does it. In other words, why does the force of gravity work or how does it work? This important question shook a young clerk who later became known as Albert Einstein. In 1915, Einstein stated through his General Relativity Principle that gravity works because of the warp in space-time.

Now you must be wondering what is this space time? I will explain this in another episode in detail. At the moment you only understand that it is like a sheet in which both space and time are connected together. Einstein said that every object in the universe distorts space-time according to its shape.
If the size of an object is large, it will distort the space-time more. To understand this, you place a heavy and a light ball on a sheet, you will find that both balls will distort the sheet but the heavier ball will distort the sheet more. It will happen that both of them will start pulling towards each other because the larger one has distorted the sheet more, the smaller ball will start going towards it.
According to Einstein, we know this as Gravity, that is, the concept of Wormhole has also come from the distortions occurring in space-time. In fact, Einstein and his partner Nathan Rosen believed that many times these distortions caused a shortcut path in space-time, which connects not only two distant places of the universe but also two different time periods.
If you have not understood it yet, let us understand it with the help of an example. Suppose A and B are two places in space time whose distance is too much.
If we try to reach from A to B in the traditional way, it will take us billions of years. But if we bend the space-time and use the shortcut path, then it will take much less time than light to reach B.
We call these shortcut paths Wormholes. But is it possible to use Wormholes? Let's know.

According to Einstein's Mathematical Model, Wormholes must actually exist in this universe. But we have not found any Wormhole till date. So far, the physicists have not been able to think of anything that can prove that the Wormholes are formed in this universe in a natural way. But according to Theoretical Physicist John Wheeler's Quantum foam Hypothesis, like virtual particle Wormholes also continue to be created and destroyed on their own. If you do not know about virtual particles, then let me tell you that some such particles have been seen in the universe which come into existence on their own and are destroyed after some time.

Where do they come from, how are they made and how do they get destroyed, we do not know. These particles, which behave amazingly, have been named virtual particles. According to Wheeler's theory, Wormholes exist but they are so small in size that we cannot detect them. According to him, the size of Wormholes is about 10-³³ centimeters on the Planck scale. Let us assume for a moment that as soon as Wormholes come into existence, we will also detect him. But to travel through them, we have to increase their size and to do this we will need Exotic Matter. In the normal condition, the rule of ordinary matter is that its energy density and pressure are positive. But if we talk about exotic matter then it is completely different from normal matter.
It is a matter whose energy density and pressure is negative. That is, a possible combination of a matter whose energy density is positive and pressure negative or pressure negative energy density positive. If we use the Exotic Matter in the Wormhole, its negative property can increase its size by pushing the sides of the Wormhole outward so that humans or a spacecraft can use it. But the problem here is that exotic matter still exists only in theory. We do not know exactly what it looks like or where to find it. Just imagine for a moment that we have found a wormhole that is quite small in size. We also get exotic matter somehow. Using which we make the Wormhole stable and increase its size so much that we can travel through it. But if Richard F. Holman believes that any object other than the exotic matter enters the Wormhole, then the Wormhole will be destroyed. In other words, we will die as soon as we enter Wormhole. If we are able to somehow use Wormhole in future, then we will have to face a big problem. Actually the Wormhole connects two points in space-time. That means not only space but also time. Meaning that if we use it to try to reach a planet in any corner of the universe, then it is quite possible that we will reach there in some other time period. Maybe in the future or maybe in the past. In such a situation, it will be very difficult for us to return to our planet in our time. According to physicists who follow the Parallel universe theory, Wormhole also interconnect different parallel universe. So what if we got stuck in another parallel universe. A physics scientist named Devis, who is trying to make exotic matter in his lab at Karas Interstellar, believes that all we need is the exotic matter to make the working Wormhole. This suggests that they sincerely hope that it is possible to use Wormhole. But at the same time he also talks a realist. He says that if we humans can reach any planet or star of the universe using it, then there is no reason that any other developed civilization of the universe has not already done so. But we have not found any evidence yet, perhaps we will have to visit the universe in the traditional way. On the other hand, if Michael Kaku believes that whatever is mathematically possible, it will definitely become a reality at some point or the other. The things that we now believe are impossible only because we do not have enough technology to make them possible. The day we develop such technology, everything will be possible which is impossible today. If we talk about time travel from Wormhole, it is not as simple as it seems. So far, from what we have understood it is certain that through this we can travel to the future, but it still does not seem possible to travel in the past. Whether or not we can travel time from Wormhole or how it makes time travel possible. This is a separate subject which we will understand through a separate article.

That's all in today's episode. So I hope you liked this episode. If so, do not forget to share it. If you are new to this website then do subscribe / bookmark it. Friends meet and greet in a more interesting episode involving science and space. Till then Namaste.
